The 2006 Golf Outing has been canceled.

This would have been our fifth year with each of the prior years turning a profit. It is a rough time for profit based and non-profit entities in Metro Detroit. The Michigan economy continues to struggle on a lot of fronts, which has an immediate impact on charitable giving. The members of FOBA and its supporters volunteer their time and resources that unfortunately this time around did not produce enough participation to move forward with this fundraiser.

Throughout the years we have been able to purchase learning tools or supply items that make the educational setting better for the Bates Students. During this 2005/2006 school year we’ve bought choir robes, a requested playground enhancement and basketball team uniforms. In addition to the listed items we have also served as a conduit for the exchange of information through this website and have provided a lasting symbol that someone does cares about the students of Detroit’s Bates Academy. 

For those of you who have written checks for this event they will be returned.  For those sponsors who have committed resources they will also be returned. Thanks again for your consideration and desire to improve the learning environment at the Bates Academy School.
